How does Peer assessment work in Career Connect? Can this be enabled for certain people (Employee Ids) at Lam or does this have to be turned on by role. Can Peer assessment be invite only from the EE? Or is it open for anyone to assess anyone at any time?

Hi @TJarvis, Excuse me for the wait to your questions. I hope this answers below are helpful. Please let me know otherwise.

How Peer Assessment works in Career Connect (Career Hub)

Peer Skill Assessment is request-based (to support governance and privacy).

End-to-end flow:

  • The employee (assessee) clicks Request assessment, selects skills, then selects people (assessors) to request.

  • The assessee’s manager is copied on the request to ensure fair usage.

  • The assessor receives a notification and completes the assessment from My Activity > My Skills Assessment requests.

  • The assessor gets a one-time submission window per request and cannot view or modify the assessment outside that window.

  • After submission, the employee and manager are notified.

Is it invite-only from the employee, or open for anyone anytime?

It is not open for anyone to assess anyone at any time. The process is gated through requests: anyone besides the manager can assess skills only if it is initiated through a request from the assessee.

Assessors can include managers or other employees, and can be anyone in the organization selected by the requester (not limited to SME, HRBP, or mentor roles).

Can this be enabled for certain people (Employee IDs) or only by role?

Peer Skill Assessment enablement is controlled through role-based permissions (i.e., who can create a peer assessment request).

In the Admin Console, once enabled, you configure who can raise a request by assigning roles (such as self, manager, HRBP) under:
Talent Management > Career Hub Overview > Profile and People Search > Configuration > Employee Engagement Features > Employee Engagement > Engagement Types > Skill Proficiencies > Actions > Request Peer Assessment > Permissions

There is no documented configuration to whitelist specific Employee IDs for this feature.

Who can initiate peer assessment requests (employee vs manager vs HRBP)?

The system supports configuring who can create a request (Creator), such as Manager or Self.

Additionally, Admin Console permissions allow you to define which roles (self, manager, HRBP) can raise peer assessment requests.

In practice:

  • Employees can be enabled to request peer assessments (self).

  • Managers and/or HRBP can also be enabled to request peer assessments, depending on configured roles.

Summary

  • How it works: Request-based workflow initiated via “Request assessment,” manager copied, assessor completes via My Activity, one-time submission window.

  • Enablement: Controlled by role-based permissions, not by individual Employee IDs.

  • Invite-only: Yes—non-managers can only assess when a request is initiated.

  • Open access: No—peer assessment is governed by the request mechanism and is not an unrestricted capability.
